Upcoming Enrichment Workshops These live, virtual enrichment workshops are led by Ms. Jaimielynn Lake (you may recognize her from the Summer Bridge Book videos) and they are designed to engage students in a fun and meaningful way. Workshops are optional and you must register your student(s) ahead of time. If you prefer to do the activities on your own, the worksheets are linked below for your convenience!
THURSDAY, JULY 8, 2021 11:00-11:45 AM See, Think, Wonder: Hamster Register: Grades K-2
12:00-12:45 PM See, Think, Wonder: Giraffe-Lion Register: Grades 3-5
1:00-1:45 PM See, Think, Wonder: Well Water Register: Grades 6-8
*See, Think, Wonder is an activity where students are shown a photo with no context. They are invited to think in three parts and engage in a Grand Conversation. A Grand Conversation is a student-led, whole-class discussion around a specific topic. This strategy differs from other types of discussions in that it is entirely student-driven, with the teacher participating as a member of the group–only intervening as needed to facilitate and scaffold the conversation.
- See: What do you see only with your eyes? (Literal observations only, no inferring)
- Think: What do you think is happening here? What do you think happened before/after this photo was taken?
- Wonder: Answers in question form only–“I wonder if…” “I wonder why…”
