This Friday marks the end of our first Learning Period (LP1)! EAs will be reaching out to schedule a Learning Period Meeting with each student and parent. Students should have any work samples for courses taken outside of Sage Oak ready to be uploaded into Canvas. Check with your EA for more details! ————————————————————————————————- HS Student-Led Clubs: Whether you love eSports or anime, drawing, theatre or baking, we have a club for you! Open to all high school students with meetings on Zoom or Discord, our student-led clubs are a great way to meet new students, learn a new skill or share your interests with others. Understanding what colleges want to see on your transcript can be tricky, but the Future Scholars Society Club is here to help! From APs and dual enrollment to career exploration and scholarship guidance, we’re here to explain it all! Whether you’re an incoming freshman, a graduating senior, or just have no clue about college in general, join us! Meetings – 2nd Friday of the month at 1:00 – Sign up HERE You’re Invited – Life Hacks: All students are invited to our weekly Life Hacks sessions, every Friday at 12pm on Zoom to learn tips and tricks to help navigate high school life with HS Counselor Ms. Coral. All are welcome – no sign up needed! PSAT Interest: Students can take the PSAT in 10th or 11th grade to prepare for the SAT. Students in 11th grade also have the chance of earning National Merit Scholar status. While Sage Oak does not offer the test in-house, we can help find outside locations where our students can test. Interested students should fill out the PSAT Interest Form this week for placement help. AP Test Interest: Students interested in taking an AP test should submit the AP Test Interest Form this week so we can work to find places for them to test. Students can also reach out to their local area high schools and check about taking it there. Chrome + Zoom Updates: If you are having trouble seeing/hearing during Zoom meetings, please make sure your Chrome and Zoom are up to date!Update Chrome directionsUpdating + Accessing Zoom directionsIf you are still having issues on Zoom after completing the above steps and restarting your Chromebook, please try “power washing” your device by following the steps found HERE. COURSE TO DOs Canvas Readiness: Are you ready for the semester? Make sure you’ve done the steps below in Canvas! All Courses: Accepted invites to your courses in Canvas. Live Classes: Know when your live classes are! Here are directions to sync your Canvas calendar with your Google calendar. CP Oversight Courses: Uploaded syllabus into Canvas for approval and share log-in information with your EA. |

COLLEGE TOURS NEW Cal State San Bernardino Tour: All students are invited to this CTE field trip to take a campus tour of CSUSB on Tuesday, September 24 from 9-10am. After the tour, they will go to the Jack H. Brown Hall to meet the team at the School of Entrepreneurship! Flyer | Sign Up Form HS EVENTS FRIDAY Hunting Beach Coastal Clean Up: Join our VLA, PLA & HS programs with a school-wide beach clean up in Huntington Beach this Friday, September 20th starting at 9am! Sage Oak students and families from all programs are invited. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity for our whole school to come together and serve our community as a part of the 40th anniversary of California Coastal Cleanup Day! Sign up HERE. Homecoming 2024: Join Sage Oak’s inaugural Homecoming dance on Saturday, October 26th. 7pm – 11pm held at Chaffey College Chino Community Center. HS FIELD TRIPS OPEN Sacramento Civics & Cal State Sacramento Tour: Join us for a day trip up as we fly up to Sacramento to see visit the capitol, explore old town Sacramento, tour California State University Sacramento, and check out museums! February 26, 2025 5am-11pm. $547 with IFs or $564 out-of-pocket. Sign up HERE. OPEN Chicago Cultural & College Tour: Our March 31-April 3 Spring Break trip to Chicago is now open for reservations! There are only 30 spots for this exciting trip where we will tour historic Wrigley Field, take an Architecture Boat River tour, tour Northwestern University, museums and much more! TUESDAY Bring-Your-Own-Essay: College Essay Guy’s LIVE Essay Review Extravaganza: Join the College Essay Guy team on Tuesday, September 17th 4-5pm PST as they live-review dozens of student admission essays! (Last year they reviewed 96!) Bring your own essay in Google doc form to get feedback of your own or listen in to hear the tips and tricks they share to help you improve your own essay. Register here. UC Application: The UC application is now open for Fall 2025 applicants! Students can begin submitting their UC applications on October 1. The deadline to submit has been extended until December 2nd. Applicants can view answers to their common FAQs on each page by clicking ‘Help’ in the top navigation bar or by clicking on the blue ‘i’ icons seen throughout the application.
