Welcome to the High School Family Updates! This newsletter is sent out every week to high school parents, students and Education Advisors with important news, reminders and upcoming events. Look for it every week in your inbox! 🌳 News & UpdatesTHIS WEEK iReady Testing Week: This week, all 9th, 10th and 11th grades will work on completing the iReady in English and math. The assessment must be completed during an EA-proctored test session. We will be offering 4 sessions every day this week between 9am and 3pm. Click on the iReady Proctor Schedule Find the grey box with the first initial of your last name in Column B. Click on the EA name in the box that matches the time slot you are testing to enter the Zoom. Remember that student cameras must be ON and showing the student. Each Zoom will be in Focus Mode so the EA proctor can see all student but students won’t be able to see each other. Contact your EA with any questions. 📫 Canvas Invitations: Invites to access your Sage Oak courses on Canvas are being sent out daily! If you haven’t already done so, use Clever to access the red Canvas button and click the green ACCEPT button so you enroll in the course. Note that there is no work due this week but students will be able to access the Welcome Module. Live Classes: Except for students enrolled in Essential English, Essential Pre-Algebra or Essentials Algebra, all other Sage Oak course live sessions will begin next week in order to give students time to prioritize completing the iReady this week. 📣 Join ASB: Calling all future leaders, event planners and community builders! The ASB/Student council application is now open! Come meet other students, help plan events and develop your leadership skills. Meetings will begin on September 6th 11AM. 🥾 TODAY HS Back-to-School Boot Camp: All 9th graders and students new to Sage Oak are invited to log in today at 3pm for Day 1 of our BTS Boot Camp where students will learn how to use Clever, Canvas, Gmail and start the year off on the right foot! Monday-Wednesday from 3-3:45pm, no registration needed! (Want to be a part of planning fun events and getting to know other students? Considering joining ASB!) HS FIELD TRIPS 🛥️ Catalina Weekend Trip: Explore the ocean with this overnight trip to Catalina Island! October 11-13. The trip will be $404 with instructional funds and $420 out-of-pocket. Sign up on Sage Oak website to secure your spot! Pali Leadership Weekend: Any student looking to develop their leadership potential is invited to join us for our Pali Institute Leadership weekend in Running Springs, October 23-35th. Signs up open August 28th on the Sage Oak website. $393 with instructional funds or $405 out of pocket. Save the dates and the instructional funds for these upcoming high school trips! Sacramento Day Trip: Join us for a day trip up to Sacramento where we will see the state capitol, tour a local college and explore the city. Cost will be approximately $550 and instructional funds can be used. (Note: Trip pending board approval on Feb 26) Spring Break Trip: This year out Spring Break trip will be to Chicago where we will explore the sights and sounds of the Windy City! The cost will be $2100 to $2300 depending on the number of students that attend. More details to come! HS EVENTS 🏖️ Welcome Back Beach Party: Join us in kicking off the new school year with a back-to-school beach party! Friday, September 6, 2024 from 3-8:45pm at Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach. All high school students welcome! Student sign up 💃 Homecoming 2024: Join Sage Oak’s inaugural Homecoming dance on Saturday, October 26th. 7pm – 11pm held at Chaffey College Chino Community Center.
