However, our support system and personal circumstances make this time easier for some than others. Many of our kids are feeling isolated, alone, and sad that they can’t enjoy the activities and experiences that they have previously. For some, this may lead to anxiety, depression, and even suicide. Actively learning and engaging in coping skills is imperative, however, sometimes this is just not enough. If you or a loved one are showing signs of suicidal behavior: giving away belongings, writing goodbye notes, or making plans on how to end their life, please get professional medical help immediately by calling 9-1-1, your doctor, or the National Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. September is suicide prevention month, and I want to partner with you to provide suicide prevention awareness. Research shows that people who are having thoughts of suicide feel relief when someone asks about them in a caring way. Join me and #Bethe1toAsk.

Please join me, Allie Whalen, your school counselor, for a parent webinar on Wednesday, September 16 at 2:30 pm where I’ll address these key ideas. Here is the Zoom link. The webinar will be recorded and later posted on our website.
