![]() California Science Test (CAST) Assessment Readiness Did you know the California Science Test (CAST) is now included in the California School Dashboard? This provides performance data for schools and districts across the state and means that the test results will play an even greater role in reflecting the success and progress of our students and our school. The CAST is required for all students in grades 5 and 8, as well as once during high school, usually in grade 11. It measures students’ understanding of key scientific concepts based on the California Next Generation Science Standards. These standards cover a range of topics in Earth and Space Sciences, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences, ensuring that students are building a strong foundation. To learn more about the CAST, we encourage you to explore resources such as the CAST Fact Sheet and the Organization of the California Science Test, which will give you a clearer understanding of the test format and what to expect. So how can you support your student? To help your child prepare and succeed on the CAST, Sage Oak offers two incredible subscriptions available at no additional cost to instructional funds: BrainPop and MobyMax for TK–8th grade students. These can be accessed directly through your Clever accounts. Additionally, PBS Learning Media offers an array of videos, lesson plans, and interactive tools to engage students in exploring science. Please feel free to reach out to your teacher with any questions or if you’d like additional support as your student prepares to take the CAST. |
