Curriculum Corner: All About Learning Press If you’re familiar with All About Learning’s approach to teaching, you know they are a stickler for the rules– especially the spelling rules. Why? Because they work! Mastering the rules of spelling and the patterns and concepts that govern the English language makes 97% of the words in our language accessible to your student. |
Knowing why a word is spelled the way it is takes the mystery out of spelling and empowers students with the know-how to spell even unfamiliar words. In their new blog post, The Best Way to Teach the CK Rule, you can learn how to teach your student when to use the letters “ck” in words with a /k/ sound and when to use the letter “k”. While the rule itself is straightforward and seems simple, it is one of the harder rules for students to master. Also check out this video demonstrating how the rules are taught in a homeschool environment, a free activity for practicing the rule, and a short animated video featuring everyone’s favorite spelling bee–Bumble! |
