Our last Socials of the school year will fittingly take place on the last day of school, Wednesday, June 5th between 10 am-2 pm at a regional location near you. Virtual Learning Academy Promotion & End-of-Year Social Virtual Learning Academy students are welcome to attend but will have their own Virtual Learning Academy Promotions and End-of-the-Year Social on Thursday, May 30th in Rancho Cucamonga. While statistics show that one in five students struggle with mental illness, the strategies and ideas shared are intended to teach mental wellness to all our students! Students can focus on mental wellness by participating in spirit week activities. CLICK HERE ![]() Oakschool Student & Parent Feedback We are putting together a video collection of testimonials from our Oakschool students on what they have learned and enjoyed while being part of the Oakschool community. Using Flipgrid, you can upload video and/or text responses to the prompts provided in the Oakschool Student group. Parents! We want to hear from you, too! Look for the prompts with parents in the title to submit your responses. Videos will be used internally and externally to promote and showcase this program for new and returning students. CLICK HERE ![]() President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) Thank you to all of our students who participated in The President’s Volunteer Service Award program (PVSA) this year. We are proud of our Sage Oak students’ impact on their communities and their participation in Sage Oak’s core value of service. This year our students logged about 8,000 service hours! That’s double the amount logged during the 2022-23 school year.We are currently calculating each student’s service hours and ordering award certificates. The award certificates will be presented at the end-of-year promotions held regionally on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Please check with your student’s teacher for time and location. We are no longer accepting recording hours forms for the 2023-24 school year. The 2024-25 PVSA window will run from May 1, 2024- April 30, 2025, and will open the reporting forms in the fall of 2024. If you plan to participate again next year (and we sure hope you do!), please keep track of your hours and volunteer signatures so you can properly record this information in the fall once we open the program again. This year, in place of our annual virtual talent show, we will be showcasing the diverse talents of students through this participatory event rather than a judged competition with selected winners. Submissions will close on Friday, May 31st, 2024.After the submission window is closed, we will celebrate our students’ talents by sharing all the grade-level submissions with our Sage Oak community to enjoy! The Virtual Academy has officially launched our One School, One Book reading program, and it’s not too late to join! We are reading Nya’s Long Walk (TK – 2nd grades) and A Long Walk to Water (3rd-8th grades). CLICK HERE ![]() Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids 2024 We are excited to continue Sage Oak’s tradition of creating teams to participate in the annual Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids. Click below to view the Walk for Kids informational doc and click on the regional team registration links if you would like to participate and represent Sage Oak at the Orange County (Irvine) event on Saturday, June 1st! Registration is $25 for adults. Children 17 and under are free! All team members (students, families, and staff) are encouraged to meet up prior to the race for some connection time and photo opportunities. CLICK HERE ![]() Local Assessment Post-Test Window The local assessment (i-Ready/TK) post-test window will be open from Friday, May 10th through Friday, May 17th. Students in grades TK-11 will be assessed in both ELA and Math. Your teacher will be reaching out to you with their specific proctoring schedule. ![]() CalKIDS Program As a California public school student, your child may be eligible to receive $500 to $1,500 for future higher education expenses. CalKIDS, a California state program, is a savings account program that will provide each child born in California after July 1, 2022, and eligible low-income public school students with up to $1,500 for college and career training.
