Virtual Learning Academy Promotion & End-of-Year Social Virtual Learning Academy students are welcome to attend but will have their own Virtual Learning Academy Promotions and End-of-the-Year Social on Thursday, May 30th in Rancho Cucamonga. In addition to the in-person promotion ceremonies and end-of-year social, VLA Kindergarten, 5th graders, and 8th graders will have virtual promotion ceremonies during class time on Wednesday, June 5th. Sage Stage Join us on Friday, April 26th at 9:00 am to meet Mr. John Collins, also known as The Paper Airplane Guy! He holds the world record for paper airplane distance and, as the author of four books on aerodynamics, has been called the foremost expert on paper planes. Mr. Collins will also teach us how to fold his World Record plane, so bring a few sheets of blank paper.Grades K-3 may find it helpful to use this Crease Pattern (print double-sided). Link: https://bit.ly/sageoakstage Passcode: sagestage CLICK HERE Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids 2024 We are excited to continue Sage Oak’s tradition of creating teams to participate in the annual Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids. The Walk for Kids is an annual community fundraiser that supports the children and families who rely on the life-changing services and programs provided by the Ronald McDonald House.This fun, family-friendly event calls on volunteers, companies, and donors within their local communities to keep families close when they need it the most. We will have Sage Oak teams at the Inland Empire (Fontana) event on Sunday, April 28th, and the Orange County (Irvine) event on Saturday, June 1st! Registration is $25 for adults. Children 17 and under are free! All team members (students, families, and staff) are encouraged to meet up prior to the race for some connection time and photo opportunities. Jumpstart to High School The Sage Oak High School Department invites all 8th grade families continuing with Sage Oak for 9th grade to attend our final two High School Q&A Zooms to ask questions, learn more about our high school program, and meet the members of our team! Friday, April 26th at 10 am: Our last General HS Overview webinar – come learn about our program and ask questions! Friday, May 3rd at 10 am: NEW! HS Course Help – get personalized help picking your courses for 9th grade! We are asking all continuing 8th grade families to review the Jumpstart to High School information and list your initial course preference for 9th grade classes on the 9th Grade Course Selection Request form. This form will be shared with your Education Advisor in August when they will reach out to verify courses, discuss how your student will take those courses, and update your Master Agreement. If you’d like help filling out the 9th Grade Course Selection Request form or have any questions, please drop into our May 3rd Zoom to connect with members of our department! The Virtual Academy officially launched our One School, One Book reading program last week, with a special Sage Stage presentation from Water for South Sudan as a kick-off. It’s not too late to join! We will be reading Nya’s Long Walk (TK – 2nd grades) and A Long Walk to Water (3rd-8th grades). Chapter one reading begins on Monday, April 30th. In addition to this opportunity and as part of highlighting Sage Oak’s core value of Service, any families who are interested in helping us bring clean water to people across the globe can participate through our Iron Giraffe Challenge!
