September 10, 2024 Dear Sage Oak Community, We are aware that many of our Sage Oak families and staff are now impacted by several fires in Southern California. The Line Fire continues to actively burn and has spread to over 26,516 acres with a 5% containment. Additionally, the Airport Fire in Orange County has grown to 9,333 acres, and the Bridge Fire in Los Angeles County is 3,786 acres. This Friday, September 13th, we planned to host our Redlands Back-to-School Social outside at Brookside Park. The air quality in Redlands continues to reach a high level of pollution due to smoke from the fire which is unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children. It is recommended that individuals reduce time spent outdoors. In the interest of the safety of our families, teachers, and staff, Sage Oak has made the difficult decision to cancel the Redlands Back-to-School Social this Friday. We are coordinating with our photographer to schedule a picture makeup day at Brookside Park in Redlands on Friday, September 27th. We will communicate further once we have more information. For up-to-date information on the Line Fire, Airport Fire, or Bridge Fire including evacuation orders, shelters, and road closures, visit the incident websites linked below. Line FireAirport FireBridge FireWe are monitoring each fire closely, including air quality conditions in Murrieta and other areas where our social events may be impacted this week. We will communicate if we make any further decisions regarding these events. If you are affected directly by evacuation orders and need support, please let your teacher or the school know how we can help. We are grateful to all the firefighters, volunteers, and emergency first responders who continue to work tirelessly to contain these fires across the state and keep us safe. Please reach out if there is anything our community can do to provide support. Sincerely, Krista Woodgrift CEO/Superintendent |
