(PLA only) Whole Foods Tour – San Diego

This event is for all TK-12 PLA students and their families. All students must be accompanied by an adult. Recommended for PLA grades 1-8.

When a child goes on a field trip to their local grocery store they are learning about all sorts of new things! Discover the behind-the-scenes activities of the grocery store (e.g., meat department, bakery, and
produce department). Students are introduced to the food pyramid and healthy eating. Recognize their favorite food and non-food products through advertising. Become familiar with the farm-to-market system and how their food is sourced (local vs. non-local) Explore the different roles (e.g., cashier, manager, stocker, bagger) of the grocery store. Try samples of food or merchandise in the store. Experience the concept of paying for goods and services with money. Join us for a 45-minute tour of Whole Foods!

Tickets can be purchased out of pocket or with Instructional Funds (for Sage Oak students). Purchasing with Instructional Funds: Please verify with your student’s teacher/EA that your student has sufficient instructional funds available for this purchase. We are not able to provide alternative payment options if there are insufficient funds and we are not able to refund any accompanying out-of-pocket ticket purchases. Please read the field trip description carefully. If an accompanying adult ticket is required, be sure to claim an adult ticket. If student/sibling tickets are claimed without accompanying adult tickets, we are not able to provide refunds for canceled student/sibling tickets.

Please note that during school field trips and other school-sponsored community events, photos and videos may be taken where students could appear in group settings. While we make every effort to respect media preferences, students may sometimes be captured in the background or within group shots in public spaces. If your child does not have media consent on file, they will not be the main focus of any photo or video. We do not highlight or identify individuals without prior consent.
