This event is for PLA Sage Oak students and families and is recommended for 4th-5th grade and advanced learners. All students must be accompanied by an adult.
Science comes to life with our rides and Knott’s Berry Farm! Our 4th-5th Grade Energy in Motion tour utilizes our varied selection of rides and roller coasters, giving you the opportunity to discuss subjects such as centrifugal force, mass, inertia, and more while you experience how each concept relates to our rides. The two-hour 4th-5th Grade Energy in Motion Tour begins at 1 pm. Students and their families may explore the park on their own before and after the tour. Please see height requirements below.
Experiments and Concepts
• Jaguar (48”) – Potential/Kinetic Energy, Friction, Air Resistance
• Log Ride (46”) – Buoyance/Density
• Bumper Cars (48”) - Action/reaction (Newton’s 3rd law), Force = Mass x Acceleration (Newton’s 2nd law)
• Pacific Scrambler (48”) – Centripetal force, Centrifugal feeling, Inertia, Compound Motion
• Coast Rider (54”) – Potential/Kinetic Energy, Lateral G-Force

Please keep in mind that the Educational Tours at Knott's Berry Farm are best for 1st graders and up. If you have children that do not meet the height requirements for rides on the tour, Knotts kindly suggests that you stay with your younger child and meet up with your student at the end of the ride.
